Sometimes you run into great finds not in the shop of a museum, but in their public spaces.
It was at MoMA PS-1 that I found the taboo table and stools I featured in December (click here to read) and today, it is in the New Museum (NYC) that I stumbled upon these very hip and cool stools/cocktail table /end tables by Brooklyn-based cabinetmaker Uhuru.
Designed by Bill Hilgendorf, one the company’s founders, the Stoolen is made of collected scraps of hardwood from local workshops and is available in custom sizes, finishes and shapes. My preference is for the round shape (illustrated) or perhaps a long horizontal rectangular shape to serve as a bench … hmmm, seems I’ve cooked-up an idea!
