I have just finished specifying a dining room renovation in an apartment on Manhattan’s Upper West side where the client has midcentury tastes but because of rambunctious children, is not interested in spending money on midcentury design.  Lucky for them, there is much in today’s market that has an “air” of the recent past, but it’s still very much 2012.

I like the MIXXspider chair designed by Matthias Demacker for Beaufurn of Winston-Salem, North Carolina for this light and airy room in the apartment.  It swivels, so it’s easy to get in and out, it’s comfortable (mainly an adult concern) and because of its 3 separate upholstered parts, it’s easy to mix-and-match colors for potentially a very fun and eye catching chair.
