The world according to MODENUS

Up until a couple of weeks ago, I had only heard of UK-US based MODENUS in relation to their organization and sponsorship of BlogTour, a yearly trip for selected bloggers to the design fairs in Milan, Paris, London and New York. But it wasn’t until recently that I had time to fully investigate what they are all about and frankly, was quite impressed! You too should look into them.

Following in the footsteps of 1stdibs, the amazing marketplace for those hunting for pieces for the home, the web has exploded in the last couple of years with many sites offering similar things. Enter MODENUS, the brainchild of ĂĽber marketer and interior designer Veronika Miller and a very different offering.

Unlike the others, MODENUS characterizes itself as a networking platform and resource catalogue for the interior design community.  So, for the consumer, it’s a place to search for amazing products from all over, from Giorgetti to Ethan Allen; to search for a designer, artisan and trade professional; to find inspiration through before and after’s, blogs and live event coverage.  For the trade professional, it’s all these things, and also a place to manage projects, share ideas and ask questions.  And for the manufacturers, it’s a place to engage with the end-user. So, it’s not about a monologue or mere presentation of products, but of dialogue.

Through social media (blogs, website, Facebook, Twitter) Veronika and her team have built their community into a phenomenally successful and essential hub for manufacturers and designers from all over the world. I can attest that this lady is ALWAYS on Twitter and I don’t have a clue when she sleeps, a sign of her relentless will to build MODENUS into something very special for those of us who love design. Godspeed V.

NOTE:  If you’re in NYC for the Architectural Digest Home Design Show from 22-25th March – next week – stop by the MODENUS booth (#105) for a chance to win a 6-day trip to the London Design Festival with BlogTour in September 2012.
