the polished rough hewn work of Canadian designer Martha Sturdy

I first learned about Martha Sturdy’s work from a feature on my design colleague Ivan Meade’s blog many, many months ago and since then, I bookmarked her page for further study.

I personally think that one of the hardest home accessories to find for a project is lighting.  There are hundreds of fixtures and lamps out there yet it is still almost impossible for me to find something chic, elegant and with panache.  It really is my cross to bear.
So when I recently went back to check out Martha’s work I found one lamp I would CERTAINLY use in the right project.  This handmade brass wire sphere lamp is the bomb and it comes as seen or with an aluminum wire sphere and white shade. Look how striking it is on a table vignette with Martha’s other works!
