The illuminated sculptures of Jeff Zimmerman

Like lily of the valley, its pods of flowers dangling off their stem, this naturally organic formed light pendant is a glam piece of functional art and one of my all-time favorites.

Devised and created by New York-based master glass virtuoso Jeff Zimmerman, the Vine illuminated sculpture is a prime example of the genius output produced by one segment of today’s contemporary artists … marrying art + design + functionality in their work, which is not about placing art/design on a pedestal for admiration, but making it live and interact with its owner day to day.  Some may argue that by having function it immediately eliminates it from being art.  Not only do I disagree, but I would go further and call it BRILLIANT art.
So whether this delightful sculpture is placed dangling horizontally in a room (LOVE it for my newly renovated kitchen), or dripping vertically in a double high entry hall, it is sure to make a boldly sophisticated statement.
