Normally, an “African gray” refers to a type of gray and white parrot.  Far from the annoying talking bird, this elegantly minimalist gray and white striated marble stool/table by Austrian designer Robert Stadler is much more agreeable.

Represented by the very “in” London-based Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Stadler designs pieces that are practical yet artistic and with a slight dose of humor.  In this case, he’s cut through the strongest part of the ever-so-slightly tapered table (its corners) to prove that even without them, his structure can actually still be perfectly poised.
