Project Pickboard | richard rabel: using dering hall in a master bedroom – (4/5)

rug: Martyn Lawrence Bullard

Today, the day before the final pickboard reveal, I’m looking to select a rug, art and accessories for the master bedroom of my clients, a 60-something couple, using ONLY Dering Hall, the well-healed online retailer of fine new furnishings.

To add a little flair and pattern to a room with such chic tailored furnishings, I’m suggesting designer-to-the-stars Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s Mamounia Rug for The RugCompany in sky blue.  I’m going to have it sit over the wide planks of black/grey oak floor as an “area” rug that covers most of the room except for about 18 in. around the perimeter so that one can still appreciate the wood floor.

The art was all bought with my clients, so I will be placing a Rudolf Stingel abstract canvas on the wall across from the bed; a Frank Auerbach over the lucite console table and opposite, a small Lucio Fontana.

pillows: Oomph

I’ve selected pillows to go either on the bed or on the 2 Van den Akker chairs I picked for the reading area on Tuesday. They are the petitie zig-zag navy pillows with green trim by Connecticut-based accessory maven Oomph.  These are perfect for not only do they go well with the color of the rug and bedside lamps, but they also echo the “laid-backness” of the blue latticework in the base of the lamps. Their green trim also ties-in with the upholstered bed.

Finally, the pickboard is revealed tomorrow.  Don’t miss it!!!!
