What does a well-established 20th century design dealer do to grow her business? She takes a cue from her interior designer colleagues, looks at the past and creates a select line of new furniture and accessories for today’s design craving customer!
My very favorite are the Albert and James tables that take a cue from famed American interior mavens Billy Baldwin and Albert Hadley who wrapped and laminated simple furniture with fabric. And while Liz uses a similar technique, her fabrics actually make the tables look as if they were made of rock minerals and semiprecious stones … “funky cold medina”!
The square Albert table is great as a sidetable – or in multiples – as a fabulous cocktail table, whereas the James, with a hidden drawer, is more appropriate as an end-table on either side of a sofa or as a colorful bedside table. In both cases and because of their size, these are a great way to incorporate some funky color and interesting pattern into a room begging for pizzazz.
