Poufs come in all different shapes and sizes. The usual ones, like those illustrated below are quite easily found in any souk … from Marrakesh to Istanbul. And frankly, they can be a handsome addition to any room, no matter how traditional.
A more contemporary (and infinitely more chic) version of the old world pouf is the leather Pompom pouf above designed by Lisa Hilland for Swedish design shop Svenskt Tenn, trailblazers in mixing the old with the new (yes people, they started back in the late 1950s!)
I can easily see it in a girly-space or even a masculine room that needs a touch of feminine sophistication – just tell him it’s just like his gnarly-old bean-bag chair!
