If you’ve been following my blog, you can pretty much see that my hugely talented colleague, LA-based designer Kelly Wearstler and I don’t really share the same aesthetic. What we do have in common is putting together “fresh” interiors. Sometimes “fresh” means a room with bold and screaming colors and oversized objects. And sometimes “fresh” means a room with more traditional/vintage furnishing but with something unexpected that brings it into the 21st century.
Case in point is this BEAUTIFUL library designed by Kelly for a home in Bel-Air, California. What struck me is how very conservative and predictable the library would have turned out had she used a Persian rug. Instead, the forward-thinking Kelly placed a more playful patterned rug, added a sprinkle of her charisma and magic to make the room hers and with this, catapulted the entire space and its accessories into the modern era.
Don’t you agree?
