encapsulating modern nordic design: cecilie manz

I was recently at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in Manhattan where a wonderful new chair caught my attention.  Designed for Danish powerhouse Fritz Hansen by Danish designer Cecilie Manz, the miniscule chair is just devourable … so modernistic and elegant at the same time!

The bucket seats have a somewhat Nordic temperament in their simple expression, and the natural leather piping around the sinewy curves of each chair add a touch of unexpected sophistication.  Although the chairs are available in a number of colors on the inside, the outside shell remains your choice of dark or light grey.
I really, really like the miniscule™ but unfortunately the frame is only made of plastic, which I do not use in my designs. Perhaps the idea is to market them for office and commercial use and if so, Hansen is missing a good selling opportunity for the 1%.  I, for one, would love to see these chairs with a wood or metal base.  Can you imagine the seat on a rosewood support?  Good heavens they would be gorge.  Wow!
