concrete gone wild

Concrete surfaces, whether floors or counter tops for the bathroom or kitchen, have been very “in” during the last decade.  Polished concrete floors can be very sexy and appealing but at times can seem rather cold.  In researching concrete alternatives, I ran into Urbancrete, an outfit out of London, England that produces incredibly beautiful colored concrete toppings that go over any solid surface.  These high performance cements are apparently engineered to be high strength, crack resistant and durable.

A multitude of polished concrete effects from high gloss to matte and everything in between are achievable with this product.  They come in 65 different colors and cost an average of ₤115/sq. m (₤115/10.76 sq.ft.).  Sounds like the common grey concrete slab has finally met its match!
