a modernist designer called Adnet

Not long ago, I saw this pair of chairs at the Galerie Chastel-Maréchal on the rue Bonaparte in Paris.  What a delight!

Designed by architect, interior designer and modernist grand-daddy Jacques Adnet around 1955, these tubular metal chairs are wrapped and impeccably stitched together in black saddle leather … simple, luxurious, functional … in other words quintessentially Adnet.  And I completely dig the belt-like fasteners in the back that add a pinch of playfulness to save the chairs from being too rigid and office-like.  Unfortunately, I was shopping for something Deco for a stunning home office so alas, I had to let them go.  But like a true love, I’ve never forgotten them.
