A 70’s home in the Kentish hills

A feature in the New York Times Homes & Gardens section recently caught my attention.  It was a story on Capel Manor, the home of TV producer Remy Blumfeld and photographer Henryk Hetflaisz that sits on 23 acres in Kent.

Designed by British architect Michael Manser in the late 1960s, the home is a tiny glass box on a mound overlooking rolling hills of British greenery.  But because they entertain they had to find a solution to the small home and rather than think about adding to the original structure, they built a simple guest pavilion designed by Scottish architect Ewan Cameron.  That led to other ideas (as it almost always does!) and so ultimately the main house was brought into the 21st century and fitted with original 1970 furniture and décor.

What a wonderful pad to spend the time don’t you think?
