15 young designers from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago presented some of their designs at the Spazio Rosanna Orlandi, the eminent space in Milan for emerging designers. There I was blown away with 2 particular eco-friendly products, both pendant lights shown here. First is the Metal Fur-LinedPendant, a piece made by lining a recycled iron structure with man-made fur (iron dust and powdered sugar). The second, Metal Peacock-Lined Pendant is lined with what else but the pelt of a peacock.
One of the most refreshing and fun aspects of any visit to the International Furniture Fairs in Milan, New York or Paris is finding new talent. And while sometimes that talent still lacks a certain polish and the products are sophomoric, sometimes the finds are truly special. This is exactly what happened last Spring at the Milan show.
Neither product is “gimmicky” and they both apparently adhere to the strict U.S. electrical code for pendants. As important, they are both SUPER chic and VERY sexy. Wooly runs about US$6,300. Peacock runs about US$7,200 and both are 16.1/2 x 12.1/2 in. | 42 x 32 cm. How awesome are these!!!
